Tomball to hold CERT training

The Tomball Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be holding free training every Tuesday, Sept. 25 through Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m., at the Tomball Fire Department, 1200 Rudel Rd. The eight-week course includes training in distrater preparedness, medical triage and treatment, disaster psychology, terrorism awareness, fire suppression, CPR training and light search and rescue. Tomball Rotary holds steak feed for members

The Tomball Rotary Club gathered at the home of member Jack Frey (right) for a special steak lunch, Sept. 19. The lunch was a way for the Rotarians to gather for something different and special after all their volunteer work throughout the year. Magnolia's Parker honored for years of service

Magnolia resident Frank Parker (right) was recently recognized for his many years of service to the City of Magnolia as mayor, a councilman, planning commissioner and president of the Magnolia 4B Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. Parker, was elected to city council in 2000 and mayor in 2001. He was named the 4B board president in 2004, where he remained until his retirement last month. A plaque commending Parker for service was presented to him by Mayor Todd Kana (left) at a recent Magnolia City Council meeting.

AAR Pet of the Week for Sept. 24

Sheba is a 3-year-old female shepherd. Sheba is at the shelter because her family had cats, which she did not like. She needs to go to a family without cats or small dogs. She has been in a foster home while recovering from surgery for a condition called Entropion. This is where the skin and eye lashes rub on the eye causing a constant irritation. She is doing great now and is an awesome dog. Sheba is great with all people and a mellow couch potato, but also likes to play fetch, play with other dogs, knows commands, likes to…

Magnolia Community Foundation (MCF) presented a $500 check to Magnolia Elementary School (MES) at their Summit 2012 meeting. MES won the social media campaign which helped to promote this year's Tailgate on the Stroll event. Fourth grade student Cameron Leblanc placed his painted hand on a large canvas that will hang in the new Timber Creek Elementary School. Nearly 300 students and the campus staff members added their handprints to commemorate the opening of the new school.

AAR Pet of the Week for Sept. 10

Jasmine is a 9-year-old female long hair tabby mix. Her family is no longer able to keep her. Their young son is sick and in and out of hospitals. They could not put Jasmine outside because she is declawed. She is a sweet, friendly girl who is a non-stop purr machine. She loves to have her head scratched and be petted. Jasmine is currently being fostered by an AAR volunteer, because there is a two month to get a cat into the shelter. AAR is a no-kill shelter, which also means we are limited on space. Waller High unveils new Bulldog statue

The Waller High School cheerleaders help celebrate the ribbon cutting of a granite bulldog monument at the school. The senior classes of 2009-2013 have held fundraisers to help construct a legacy of school pride in the Waller ISD community. Individuals and businesses can purchase engraved blocks as a memorial, with a business name or graduation year. The donation level amounts range from the $100 to $500 and the brick size is based on the donation level. For more information call 936-972-3654.

TISD open school year with Meet the Teacher event

Second grade student Kaitlyn Ripp (left) visited with her new teacher, Chereen Shoemaker, at Timber Creek Elementary. Ripp is among nearly 300 students to attend Timber Creek Elementary, which is Tomball ISD’s eighth and newest elementary campus. The school was built under Bond 2007 – Tomball ISD’s $198 million bond referendum.

Ethan is a 1-1/2-year-old male black weimaraner. Ethan's owner loved him very much and cried when he had to give him up. His owner could no longer afford to keep this big guy and had to move into an apartment that would not allow this size of dog. Ethan is 90 pound gentle giant who is good with dogs, cats and kids.
