AAR Pet of the Week for Aug. 27

Bill is a 3-month-old male domestic short hair feline. AAR is having a Black Cat Special during the month of September. We have several “Men in Black” available and a few “Women in Black.” AAR also has a few cats with just a dash of white. The cats range from 10 weeks to two years, with long tails, short tails and no tails. All are very friendly and have great personalities. Magnolia West FCCLA fares well at national conference

Five students from Magnolia West High School competed in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America’s (FCCLA) 2012 National Leadership Conference. AAR Pet of the Week for Aug. 20

Leo is a 9-year-old male pomeranian who was found on Hospital Street in Tomball. Leo was wondering the streets for three days. A nearby resident fed him and gave him water. When AAR took him in, he was lethargic, dehydrated and could barely walk. He has been checked out by a vet, had his teeth cleaned and has a clean bill of health. Leo is so sweet, loves being held and has a darling personality. He needs to stay inside most of the time. He does not like to stay out long, as he gets to hot in this weather…

Toledo is a 1-year-old female vizsla mix that was found when she was a puppy. She was found with just three legs. When they brought her to the vet he said her leg was surgically removed. This has not slowed Toledo down in any way. Her owner does not have the time to spend with her that she deserves. Toledo can run like the wind and maneuver around without any problems. She absolutely loves the water, loves to play ball, enjoys going to the dog park and playing with other dogs. Toledo is house trained, but will also need her daily dose of exercise. She is a goofy, sweet, friendly loving girl who deserves to find her forever home. Kason Faulkner, a sophomore at Tomball Memorial High School, has been recognized as a Tomball Regional Medical Center (TRMC) “Heart Hero.” When his dad was having a heart attack, Faulkner quickly called 911 and followed the operator instructions on performing CPR. Kim Faulker credits his son for saving his life and giving him the care he needed. Thanks to his son’s fast action, Kim Faulkner was able to get to the cardiac catheterization lab at TRMC for a stent placement to open a blocked artery.

Daron Aston was recently named as the new principal at Tomball ISD’s Lakewood Elementary School. Prior to joining Tomball ISD, Aston worked at Mesquite ISD for 19 years. He served as a fifth and sixth grade teacher, an elementary technology facilitator, assistant principal and principal. In 1990, Aston earned a bachelor of arts degree in communications specialist at Baylor University. In 2001, he earned a master in educational administration at East Texas State University.

Luca is a 4-month-old male domestic short hair feline. Luca has lots of personality along with his sibling Lisbet, who is also available for adoption. They have similar looks and personalities. Magnolia’s Morgan May recently competed in the Pinto World Show in Tulsa, Okla. May and her 2-year-old filly Blue Eyed Conclusion placed second in youth halter and won the Reserve World Championship title as well.

Trudy is a 10-month-old female lab mix. Trudy came to us at 10-days-old, along with seven other siblings who all needed to be bottle fed. All the other puppies were adopted when they were old enough. Trudy's foster mom became attached to Trudy and decided to keep her. Eight months later, Trudy became to much for her to handle as the lady was older, had brittle bones and thought the dog might make her fall down. Baxter is a 1-year-old male dachshund that was found by another rescue group who did not have room to foster him. He is a handsome, friendly little guy, weighing in at 22 pounds. His foster family said Baxter loves to be smothered with love and attention. He is great with kids and people of all shapes and sizes.
