Late in the evening of July 2011, two men entered a Ross Dress For Less store in the Westwood Shopping Center, located at FM 1488 and FM 2978.
The pair proceeded to set fire to the store in an attempt to divert attention from their plans to rob it.
Other customers and staff were in the store at the time of the fire and eventually the pair panicked and fled the scene, but not before they were captured on the store's security cameras.
Information obtained during the investigation led investigators to identify the suspects as Jon David Fletcher and Brian Jacob Van Orman.
Fletcher was arrested in July of 2011 and has since pleaded guilty for his role in the arson, but Van Orman fled the area before he could be arrested and has been hiding ever since.
Officers from the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office enlisted the assistance of other agencies in areas where Van Orman was believed to be hiding. They recently learned he was hiding with family and friends in Williamson County, near Austin.
Van Orman surrendered himself June 14 at the Montgomery County Jail on charges of Second Degree Felony Arson and an unrelated felony charge of Forgery. He is currently out on $105,000 bond and is awaiting trial.
