The Texas Red Raiders of Magnolia won their first baseball tournament of the spring season. The Red Raiders went 4-0, in winning the Mardi Gras Bash 14-and-under Tournament at Houston's Doss Park. They are currently the third-ranked 14-and-under squad for Nations Baseball, in Texas. Addie, a golden eyed, black and white female, was dumped along with her six newborn kittens. She was emaciated, yet her babies were incredibly well cared for. If there was a mother of the year for cats, Addie would definitely win. All of her babies have been adopted. With her mission accomplished, this playful, snuggly girl has yet to meet a cat or human she does not like. The Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce (GTACC) Golf Classic Golf Ball Drop will be held Mar. 21 at High Meadow Ranch Golf Club.
At 5:30 p.m., a helicopter will drop numbered golf balls onto the driving range and the ball landing closest to the designated hole or in it wins the grand prize, a 50-inch FHD LCD TV. Second place prize is an X Box 360 Kinect and third place prize is an Android tablet.
Balls for the Golf Ball Drop are available for $5 each or 5 balls for $20. Other ways to participate in the GTACC Golf Classic include tent sponsorships, hole sponsorships, or with donations for the silent auction or door prizes.
Individual players may register online at TomballChamber.org or at the GTACC offices located at 29201 Quinn Rd., Ste. B. Individual registration is $150 and includes range balls, lunch, an awards dinner and a gift bag. Registration fee for teams of four is $600. Lunch will be provided by Willie's Grill & Icehouse and dinner by Mel's Country Cafe.

Sergio Grado, a representative of the Piney Woods US Green Building Council, spoke to the Magnolia Rotary Club about his Montgomery County Green "Container Home" project, during their weekly luncheon Mar. 5. Grado showed members pictures of a green style home made of old shipping containers. The Magnolia Rotary Club meets every Tuesday, at noon, at the Celeste Graves Educational Support Center.
Tomball Regional Medical Center CEO Bud Wethington was the guest speaker during the Tomball Rotary Club's weekly luncheon Mar. 6. Wethington talked about the hospital's plans for the future, including improvements, updates and planning for growth. The Tomball Rotary Club meets every Wednesday, at noon, at the Tomball Community Center.
