The Tomball High School STAGE theater department will perform the Tony Award winning musical "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" Nov. 15-17. Performances will be held at 7 p.m. all days, with a special matinee performance Nov. 17 at 2:30 p.m., at the Tomball High School Auditorium, 30330 Quinn Rd. Tickets are $10. Tomball PD• Oct. 28 - Officer Smith arrested a 24-year-old man from Tomball for Possession of Marijuana. At 9:45 a.m., Smith arrested the suspect for Assault Family Violence, which occurred in the 300 block of Belmont. During a search, Smith discovered marijuana in the suspect's apartment and upon questioning, discovered he had hidden a larger bag of marijuana behind a dumpster in the 1500 block of South Cherry.• Oct. 28 - Officer Sampson arrested a 32-year- old man from Cortez, Colo., for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Tomball PD • Oct. 21 - Detective Smith arrested a 24-year-old woman from Tomball for Possession of a Controlled Substance. At 11:15 p.m., Detective Smith responded to a possible stolen vehicle call in the 30600 block of Ulrich. Magnolia celebrates new Walgreens

Walgreens recently opened a new store at the intersection of FM 1488 and FM 1774 in downtown Magnolia. At the Oct. 26 grand opening, Walgreens officers were welcomed by the Magnolia Area Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting for the new member. City officials and chamber members were in attendance as well. At left, Walgreens-Magnolia Manager Chad Reno does the honors.

Miss Tomball tickets available for Nov. 17 pageant

The Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce will present the 47th annual Miss Tomball Pageant on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Salem Lutheran Church Worship Center. Tickets are $18 each and are available at the chamber office, located at 29201 Quinn Rd., Ste. B. The Miss Tomball Pageant will be presented in the Salem Lutheran Church Worship Center, which offers theatrical lighting and sound along with two on-stage screens. Tomball High School has received the 2012 College Readiness Award from the Texas ACT Council for increasing the number of students taking the ACT Assessment over the past five years and significantly increasing the level of achievement and college readiness. "It is an honor for our campus to be recognized," Greg Quinn, principal of Tomball High School, said. Tomball PD• Oct. 14 - Officer Ferguson arrested a 51-year-old man from Spring for Theft. At 10:25 p.m., Ferguson responded to a theft in the 14400 block of FM 2920 and the suspect was arrested without incident. Three tires, valued at $20 each, were recovered by the arrest.• Oct. 17 - Sgt. Arriaga arrested a 22-year-old man from Tomball for Possession of a Controlled Substance. At 10:10 a.m., Arriaga arrested the suspect for outstanding warrants in the 900 block of Lawrence. More than 2,500 showed up for the inaugural Zomball in Tomball event at the Tomball Depot recently, making it the largest 2nd Saturday at the Depot event in its four year history. Tomball Homecoming Parade Oct. 24

Tomball High School will hold its annual football Homecoming Parade Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m. The parade will start at Tomball Intermediate School and proceed down Main Street to the Tomball Depot Plaza. Following the parade a pep rally will be held at the Depot. The homecoming Dukes and Duchesses and the Homecoming King will be announced. The Tomball Cougars play their homecoming contest Friday, Oct. 26 versus Ridge Point High School at 7 p.m. The queen will be announced at halftime.
