Cypress is a 1-year-old male terrier mix. He was found in Cypress and was shy when he first arrived at the shelter. Now he greets all volunteers with a smile and is ready to play. Cypress is a friendly, affectionate guy and playing fetch and running around the yard are some of his favorite activities. After a good run, he will look at you adoringly, while waiting for your love and attention. He also enjoys playing with other friendly dogs. Tatum is a pretty cool kitty. She takes a little while to warm up, but when she does, she is a purring machine. Tatum loves the company of other cats and enjoys playing with toy mice.  She does not seem bothered by dogs and is a curious little soul that is always quietly watching the world around her. Humphrey was rescued by a good Samaritan that saw him and his friend Harold running along a busy road.  He came to Abandoned Animal Rescue looking scruffy, long haired and dirty. He was also heartworm positive. After receiving an AAR makeover of heart worm treatment, a great haircut and lots of care and attention, he is now a calm, healthy and friendly gentleman.  He enjoys going for walks and hanging out with our volunteers. Humphrey is also quite a "ham" and will pose with affectionate  and cute expressions when having his picture taken. Gifford is one of AAR's longtime residents, having arrived in December of 2011. He is very lonely since his best friend and playmate, Toto (another longtime resident), was adopted last month. Gifford is a terrier/ Chihuahua mix and has been fostered during the holidays. He gets along with the four dogs and a cat in the foster home.  He is completely house-trained, and loves to play with squeaky toys. Whatever his experience was before arriving at AAR has left him wary of men in general, but he has shown no aggression towards the gentleman of the house. He loves to burrow under the covers at night and sleeps next to his foster mom. His curly tail matches his perky personality. Gidget's owners moved and left her on her own. This special brown tabby is a sweet girl who is ten-years-old, has cataracts and a slight heart murmur, but it doesn't require any medical attention at this time. She is friendly, spayed, up to date on vaccinations and litter box trained. If you are an understanding family or person who would allow Gidget to spend her "golden years" in your heart and on your lap, you might just be the person she has been waiting for. Carla is a one year old spaniel and corgi mix. She has been at the shelter for seven long months and is desperately seeking a loving home. Carla is an energetic sweet gentle girl. Her legs are short but she is a fast runner and she loves to jump and play in the yard. She enjoys playing with most other friendly dogs. Lenny is a 3-year-old miniature pincher mix. He is a bright-eyed and intelligent boy. Lenny is always very excited to see the crew of volunteers who come in to exercise him and he quickly learned to walk on a leash and interact with everyone.
