The Magnolia/Tomball Family YMCA kicked off its annual Partners Campaign recently, to help raise funds that will provide scholarships to local youth, teen, families and seniors.
Each of the 37 YMCAs across the greater Houston area work together to meet the $6.5 million dollar goal.
Last year, YMCA of Greater Houston association volunteers united to gain the trust and charitable support of more than 10,000 individual, corporate and foundation donors. They raised more than $6.2 million to support efforts at the Magnolia/Tomball YMCA and the other communities throughout the Houston area. In 2012 over $71,000 was given to youth and families in the Magnolia and Tomball areas through the Magnolia/Tomball YMCA.
Donations underwrite YMCA programs like child care, swim lessons, day camp, teen programs, sports and more. All of these Y services provide families in Magnolia and Tomball with hope for a positive future and equip children with skills and core values. One hundred percent of the money raised for the Magnolia/Tomball YMCA stays within the local community.
"No matter the size of the donation, every gift donated to the Partners Campaign is an investment in the children in our community," said Stephanie Saker, Senior Program Director. "Thou-sands of stories and memories are created each day at a Y. Children experience their first swim lesson, sports activity or special camp moment at the YMCA. Families journey together through some of the most rewarding chapters of their lives while at the Y."
