Magnolia High School, Lady Bulldog volleyball player, senior Kerstin Jenkins has been awarded the Hitter of the Year honor for District 18-4A, as well as being named first team All-District.
Jenkins has played volleyball for 13 years and has committed to play for Texas A&M University-Kingsville recently. Her accomplishments inspire others on the team and her sportsmanship encourages her teammates to work harder and to be the best they can be, coaches said.
Jenkins has been on Magnolia's varsity volleyball team since her sophomore year.
She gives thanks to her coach Terri Johnson for, "helping me out with college decisions and making me work harder to reach my goals."
Other first team selections for 2013 were awarded to Ivy Fincher, Morgan Miller and Ginger Reader. Honorable mentions went to Logan Lowry, Lindsey Smothers and Brook Harris.
"I feel like they always have my back and I can rely on them for anything," Jenkins said of her teammates.
"Kerstin inspires us on and off the court with her attitude towards everything and always striving to be the best," Madi Cook said. "Kerstin makes us want to become better volleyball players and better leaders in school and on the court."
