Magnolia High School Food Science student Stephanie Simpson (left) and Culinary Arts student Cynthia Luke (right) designed and constructed a cake for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Tomball Magnolia Montgomery Metro Go Texan Committee. The cake was auctioned off at the committee’s annual Denim & Diamonds dance held recently at the Tomball VFW. Their cake sold for $300 and the total raised from all the cakes donated was $1350.
The Magnolia High School UIL Academic Team competed at it's sixth annual invitational meet Feb. 2. The accounting team took first place overall at the event, while earning several individual honors. Bethany Mandrell grabbed first place, followed directly behind by Blake Hale in second and Mishayla Smith in third place. Laila Espinoza placed fifth in computer applications. Magnolia High School's Ben Hudson (left) and Jacquline Mears(right) took part in a national discussion on gun control, moderated by Hari Sreenivasan of the PBS show Newshour. They are two of eight students selected nationally to take part in the discussion. The report is expected to air on PBS sometime next week.
The Magnolia Rotary Club welcomed the February Students of the Month to their weekly luncheon, Feb. 12. Magnolia High School Principal Jeff Springer introduced the four Magnolia High School students to the Magnolia Rotary Club.
