An elderly Magnolia couple was killed April 6 in a devastating vehicle collision just east of SH 249.

John Cobb, 87, and Aurelia Cobb, 86, both of Magnolia died after the vehicle they were driving, a 1999 Ford Taurus, was struck by a 2004 Dodge pick-up truck, driven by 23-year-old Todd Miller of Tomball, the Tomball Police Department reported.

According to a police report, the Cobbs were traveling east in the 14400 block of FM 2920 and attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot when the truck driven by Miller collided with their vehicle.

John Cobb was air lifted to Houston Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Varilla Cobb died at the scene, Chief Rob Hauck said.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Tomball Police Department.

This is the first recorded fatality accident in the City of Tomball for 2010. Two traffic fatalities were reported in Tomball in 2009.
