4A, 4B committees next to determine Kelley’s fate

The City of Magnolia’s 4A Economic Development Corporation and 4B Community Development Committee will decide the fate of former city administrator Ryan Kelley, executive director of both corporations, at a joint meeting May 13 at 4:30 p.m.

4A President Jonny Williams said last week that there will be an item on the agenda regarding Kelley’s employment with both 4A and 4B at their meetings this Thursday.

Agendas for those meetings were not made public as of press time last week.

Williams said Kelley is still on the payroll for both committees. According to documents obtained by open records requests, Kelley’s annual salary from both 4A and 4B in the 2009-2010 fiscal year totaled $25,396.

4A and 4B meet once a month and this is the first meeting for both since Kelley resigned April 22 following a DWI arrest and subsequent charge.

City attorney Leonard Schneider confirmed that Kelley is still executive director of the two committees as no action has been taken by either regarding his position. He added that Kelley has separate contracts with the committees than he had with the city.
