Paul Overcast, a nine-year veteran of the Tomball Police Department, is facing a long road to recovery after recently undergoing surgery for a brain tumor.

As Overcast is fighting his way back to health, and back to patrolling the streets of Tomball, his fellow officers and the Tomball Police Department are turning to the local community for support in Overcast’s battle.

The Tomball Police Department has scheduled a fundraiser benefit for Overcast, scheduled for July 18 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Tomball VFW Post No. 2427, located at 14408 Alice Road.

The department is holding a brisket sale as part of the benefit to help raise money. Briskets are currently available for purchase for $40 each at the Tomball Police Department, located at 400 Fannin Street in Tomball. Checks should be made payable to the Tomball Police Officers Association; note “Paul Overcast” in the “memo” line.

The last day to order a brisket is July 12.

The benefit will include live music by the Charlie Lucas Band, a live and silent auction and barbeque plates for $5 each.
