Dodson defeats Wilson in Tomball’s Special Election

Preston Dodson has won the City of Tomball’s Special Election for Council Position 5, defeating challenger Judy Wilson.

Dodson received 53 percent of the vote, or 373 votes, while Wilson garnered 47 percent, or 328 votes.

Wilson will be sworn in at the Tomball City Council’s Aug. 16 meeting. He will take over the Position 5 seat a little over a month after former council member Warren Driver vacated the position when he moved out of the city.

For Wilson, the Special Election was her second defeat in a Tomball political race in three months. In May, she challenged current Mayor Gretchen Fagan for her position, but was defeated.

For the Aug. 14 Special Election, 703 ballots were cast, equating to a 12.9 percent turnout of the 5,467 registered voters in the city.
