Miss Tomball Pageant set to make return to Salem

miss tomball pageant One of Tomball’s most popular events returns this year for its 45th anniversary with the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce’s Miss Tomball Pageant.

This year’s event is set for Saturday, Nov. 20 and will once again be held at the Salem Lutheran Church worship center, which hosted the event for the first time last year after the pageant had been held for several years at the Tomball High School auditorium.

“We are excited to return to the worship center. The sound and lighting capabilities are on par with most Houston area theater centers,” Faye Drennan, GTACC Special Events Coordinator and Miss Tomball Director said. “Last year was such a stunning visual presentation which greatly contributed to such a successful pageant, that we expect to be sold out shortly after tickets go on sale in the fall.”

Last year, 45 local girls, aged 15-19, competed for the title of Miss Tomball 2009. The winner was Tomball High School Senior Brooke Hopper, who this year will crown the winner at the conclusion of the pageant.

Last week, the Chamber announced that applications for the pageant are now available.

According to the Chamber, each applicant is required to have a business sponsor. Sponsorships are $325. Sponsors belonging to the Chamber receive a $100 discount.

During the pageant, contestants will be presented in evening attire and will be judged on the basis of poise, personality and beauty. Ten semi-finalists will be chosen and five finalists will be awarded trophies in addition to other prizes and gifts.

This year’s pageant will once again follow the annual Tomball Holiday Parade, which will be held that morning along Main Street in Tomball. This year’s theme is “Peace, Love and Holidays.” As is tradition, each of this year’s contestants will take part in the parade, greeting onlookers.

Applications for the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce (GTACC) 2011 Miss Tomball Pageant are now available at the Commerce’s office, located at 29201 Quinn Rd., Ste. B.
