Constable’s Office captain suspended

jones Montgomery County Pct. 5 Constable’s Office Captain Chris Jones has been suspended by the department for undisclosed reasons.

Through a press released issued by Chief Deputy David Wood, the Constable’s Office announced that Jones has been placed on administrative leave with pay.

Representatives from the Constable’s Office were not able to comment on the matter “per departmental policy.” According to the release, the matter has been referred to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

Phil Grant, First Assistant District Attorney, stated that the DA’s office could neither confirm nor deny that an investigation into Jones was underway.

Jones was also unable to comment on this story.

“He’s under the same provisions, either through himself or through me,” his attorney, Gregg Cagle of the Texas Municipal Police Association, said.

Jones is a 10 year veteran of the Constable’s Office and was promoted to Captain in 2008. Jones is a 1991 graduate of Magnolia High School.

What does this have to do with Magnolia?

What do you mean "in trouble again"? Are there other issues with Precinct 5?

Mayor Kana, aren't you from Magnolia? Do you not know that City of Magnolia is in District 4 of Montgomery County? Do you not know that Precint 5 Constables office can go anywhere in District 4 boundaries including the City of Magnolia Texas?

There are many different agencies that have the authority to go into Magnolia, but to insinuate that any of them (MCSO, Constable, DPS etc..) have anything to do with or are a reflection of the City of Magnolia is misleading. We have no control or oversight in regards to these other agencies.

I worked a lot of years with the Constables with Pct. 5 and have a great deal of respect for Constable Hill and each Deputy that wares the badge. Yes, they definately work in Magnolia plus a large area surrounding. Through out the years they have always been there for each and every agency. Can't count the times they were there for me. I don't know the story behind Constable Chris Jones, I only know that my prayers are with him and hope for the best for him and his family.

I don't see anything in the statements that involved the City of Magnolia ??? 2978, 1486, and a lot of streets in subdivisions have to claim Magnolia Mayor Kana, not all out of choice.

My mistake Mayor Kana. You are right, Capt. Jones doesn't work directly for Magnolia. It is you and your buddies that have given Magnolia such a rotten reputation which reflects upon anyone connected to Magnolia.

I apologize to Capt. Jones for including him in the city of Magnolia reputation.

Amen, Mr. Bolton

Mr. Kana, man up and call 281-259-6493 ask to speak to Constable David Hill or Chief Deputy David Wood they would be so happy to talk to you concerning other incidents in their department. I don't understand why you are concern about Pct.5 when Magnolia Police Department has been under fire for years. How many Chiefs in the last 10 years has the department had? How many firings or terminations has the department had? HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY LAST COMMENT I WILL MAKE.

I think you all might have misunderstood something, I am not sure? I never said anything bad about the Constable department nor stated that I was concerned about it. I have spoken to Constable Hill many times and have known him my entire life. I have nothing but respect for the man and his department.

As for the "you and your buddies" comment, not at all true. I am not going to get into a mud slinging argument that presents no facts via a newspaper blog. Anyone can go to the city website and find multiple ways of contacting me. I encourage both of you to come to the meeting Tuesday night and tell me exactly what you think is wrong and needs changing. I knew better than to get into this, but I felt the need to defend Magnolia. I am done with this.

Are you really denying that you and your buddies on council have not damaged the reputation of Magnolia?
