| Perry makes Tomball stop ahead of election |

“It’s good to be back in North Harris County,” Perry said.

He promoted the Nov. 2 election and suggested the community call friends and family in other states and to ask about their elections. Perry said there is 37 governorships this election.
“That is the most in one cycle in governor history,” he said.
Perry promoted local Tea Parties, saying they cause people to be engaged in government and has caused more people to read the Constitution.
He told his audience of about 200 that his favorite amendment was the Tenth Amendment because it gives the power to the states.
According to Perry four out of five private sector jobs created since 2005 have come in Texas.
“This election is about: do we really want to keep Texas on this path,” He asked. “They live in a place where they can take care of their family.”
Perry encouraged all residents to vote early, and be involved in their communities any way they can.
“Be on city council, school board or a state representative,” he said.
Residents filed into lines for an opportunity to take a picture with Perry following his speech.
Perry is currently running against former City of Houston Mayor Bill White for the Governor’s position.

P.S. I find it equally distressing that Cheryl Smith and the Tribune didn't find that snubbing of the Governor newsworthy. Makes you wonder what else we don't hear about, doesn't it?

The Tomball city council could not attend an event in their city where the Governor was present? They didn't have to vote for Perry but it is commom courtesy and respect to welcome such an elected official to your city. Guess everyone but Councilman Townsend was busy that day making sure that the city was funding a location for illegal immigrants to meet and continue to break our laws.

P.S. Thanks to Dereck Townsend, the lone Tomball council member to show up and express his appreciation for the governor's visit. Good job, Derek!
