Tomball man survives gunshot wound to head, suspect at large

ramirez A Tomball man has survived a gunshot wound to the head and is expected to make a full recovery, but his assailant is still at large.

Tomball Police say Samuel Gonzales, 27, was shot just under the left eye by 27-year-old Jose Luis Ramirez Nov. 15 after the two got into an argument at the Dartford Square Apartments on South Cherry Street.

Capt. Rickey Doerre said the incident occurred at approximately 11 p.m. after several people spent the day working on a vehicle in the complex’s parking lot. Doerre said it appeared as though many of them had been drinking after officers arrived and saw a case of beer on top of the vehicle and several beer cans scattered around.

It is still unclear why the two were arguing, but Doerre said it appears to have been about the pistol the suspect was carrying on him, and subsequently used to allegedly shoot Gonzales.

Ramirez immediately fled the scene “and hasn’t been seen or heard from since,” Doerre said.

Gonzales was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Doerre said that the bullet entered Gonzales’ head just below his left eye socket, traveled down the cheekbone, around the jaw bone, behind the ear and lodged “about one inch behind the base of his neck and spinal cord.”

Gonzales is expected to fully recover, Doerre said, and doesn’t appear to be paralyzed. Det. Albert Chambers, who is working the case, was even able to obtain a statement from Gonzales the same night.

An arrest warrant has been obtained for Ramirez through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Doerre said Ramirez is in the country illegally and has a “limited criminal history” with the Tomball PD.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Ramirez should call the Tomball Police Department at 281-290-1390 or 281-290-1336.

"Ramirez is in the country illegally and has a “limited criminal history” with the Tomball PD."

Mayor Fagan and Tomball City Council, how many more violent incidents are you willing to tolerate before getting SERIOUS about enforcing illiegal immigration laws??

Tomball residents, please demand that your elected representatives do their job to enforce the laws and keep our city safe, and if they refuse, you can REPLACE them.

Now I know the reason that I do not hear the sounds of children playing in Tomball. Is their known fear in this conservative little town? Have there been events in the past that have caused the sleepy little townsfolk to keep their children inside ?? Or have these people moved to the outlying areas of Tomball, where there are private subdivisions, to escape the threat of invasion from the a*sociates of the Mexican Drug Cartel.

Here we go again.... we get clobbered by the type of people that frequent the Day Labor Site; yet we wonder why we have so much hateful crime in our city?
PERHAPS we need to start enforcing laws and get people in office that will do just that.
