| Tomball Marine comes home for Christmas |
|
Jones, a Tomball High School graduate, attended the United States Military Academy at West Point in New York for two years before enrolling at Texas A&M University. Following his time at West Point, Jones changed his enlistment commitment from the Army to the Marine Corps and trained during summers at A&M.

Jones graduated from A&M in May 2007 at which point he was also commissioned as a Marine Officer.
His first deployment was to Iraq. His most recent tour was with 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit with which he visited eight different countries around the world.
Jones had not been home in nearly eight months, his mother, Virlena Jones, said.
Jones was not expecting to see his grandmother, mother-in-law and friends waiting for him with patriotic signs and balloons when he arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport Dec. 23.
Jones planned to spend his four days in town visiting friends and family.
Virlena and her husband, Rick, moved to Magnolia more than six years ago. Their oldest son, Jason Jones, is a captain in the Marine Corps and a THS graduate.
Landon’s four-year commitment to the USMC is up in July, after which he plans to return to school.
“I’m going to try to seek a degree in engineering,” Jones said.
