| Tomball Chamber to host council candidates’ forum |
|
The Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce (GTACC) will host a Meet the Candidates Forum for Voters, presenting city council candidates from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, April 25. This will be a monitored event in which citizens will be able to ask questions to all five candidates running for Positions 1 and 5 on the Tomball City Council.
Sponsored by the Government and Legislative Affairs Committee of the GTACC, the forum will be held at the Lone Star College-Tomball Elmer L. Beckendorf Conference Center, 30555 Tomball Parkway. GTACC Government and Legislative Affairs Chairman Stephen Garceau said he feels sure the public will take advantage of the evening.
“The Tomball area is known for its political conscience and is a strong voting district,” Garceau said. “Although this is a forum for a city election, we still expect a very good turnout. The purpose of this special panel assembly is to enlighten voters of the issues, ideas and opinions of each candidate with fairness.”
All five Tomball City Council candidates have responded to the invitation to participate in this two-hour panel discussion including, William Harris, Field Hudgens and Judy Wilson, who are running for Position 1, and incumbent Preston Dodson and Bill Webb who have each filed for Position 5. Tomball City Council terms are for three years.
Election Day is Saturday, May 14 and registered Tomball voters may cast ballots on that day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Tomball City Hall, 401 Market St. Early voting begins Tuesday, May 3 and runs through Tuesday, May 10, also at City Hall. Check the city’s website at, ci.tomball.tx.us for early voting times.
