Fire conditions prompt MVFD to hold town hall meeting

The Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department is planning a town hall meeting to address fire conditions and fire safety on May 9, just weeks after a 30-acre fire broke out in Magnolia.

Fire Chief Gary Vincent said there was a need for the meeting due to the current fire conditions across the state which has also affected Magnolia.

“There have been a number of significant fire events in Texas recently, even one in Magnolia” he said.

With Montgomery County still in drought conditions and under a burn ban, Vincent said the meeting would give MVFD a chance to answer any questions residents may have and discuss fire safety tips.

The meeting will be held in the training center at Station 181 located on Buddy Riley Boulevard at 7 p.m. A representative from the Texas Forest Service and Montgomery County Fire Marshal Jimmy Williams will be on hand.

The meeting is open to anyone within the MVFD district. Residents must RSVP by May 4 at noon by calling 281-356-3288 or emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
