| MJH student caught tattooing classmate |
|
A student at Magnolia Junior High (MJH) is being charged as an unlicensed tattoo artist and giving a tattoo to an individual under the age of 18.
On May 12, a deputy of the Montgomery County Pct. 5 Constable’s Office was at the school making his usual rounds when he found three male students in the men’s public restroom with one student reportedly giving another student a tattoo.
Constable’s Office Sgt. Dale Park said the third student claimed to be a bystander.
During further investigation, it was determined that the student had just begun giving the other student the tattoo. The student in possession of the tattoo equipment was charged, while the other two students received no criminal charges.
The Constable’s Office is still investigating how the student came in contact with the equipment. Park said the equipment was homemade.
In addition, Park said it is unknown if the student had given any other students tattoos prior to May 12.
“There is only one student that we are aware of,” he said.
There are many safety issues, according to Park. He said because the equipment was homemade it was likely unsterile. Additionally, there are concerns if the student had performed tattoos on multiple persons with the same equipment.
“There are plenty of concerns,” he said.
It is unknown how the school handled the situation. As of press time last week district administrators had made no comment.
However, Magnolia ISD administrators cannot comment publicly on its disciplinary actions for specific students, as explained in its district policy.
