| Magnolia cancels fireworks display |
|
The City of Magnolia has chosen to cancel the fireworks display scheduled for 9:20 p.m. on July 4.
Economic Development Coordinator Deborah Rose Miller said that after meeting with the Montgomery County Fire Marshall the city decided that it would not be safe to display fireworks with the current drought conditions.
However the “party” is still on, she said. A parade is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Followed by a picnic at Unity Park. At 9:20 p.m. a recorded fireworks display will be projected on a large screen along with patriotic music.

Thank you Magnolia and Deborah Miller ... The fire works will be missed but will sure give our fire fighter's a chance at some well deserved rest and family time. Magnolia turned out full force to a*sist SOS with donations for so many to start their lives over and it's still so dry ... Thanks again and Praying for better days ..

Why did it take so long to decide the conditions were not safe. Our area has been in high drought condition with burn bans for months. Why would anyone seriously consider a fireworks display for the 4th of July?
I'm glad someone finally came around to the facts that everyone else already knew. Write comment
