| Chamber gearing up for annual Tomball Night |
|
Downtown Tomball will come alive once again on Aug. 5 with sales at stores throughout Tomball, along with a festival-like atmosphere with food, live music, fun attractions, drawings, door prizes, raffles, cash give-aways and a lighted parade. Shops will be lined down Market, Commerce and Main Streets offering food, crafts and most importantly sales. Activities downtown will include Barbeque, children’s bounce houses, frozen treats including yogurt, ice cream and snow cones, live bands, face painting and pony rides.
Pictured, a guest from last year gets her face painted at one of the downtown vendors. The grassy area near the Depot will be full of more children’s entertainment as well as throughout downtown. However, Tomball Night doesn’t just stay downtown. Businesses all over Tomball will be staying open late for guests of Tomball Night. GTACC President Bruce Hillegeist said the event engulfs “SH 249, north and south, and FM 2920, east and west and all the roads in between.” Outside of downtown, Tomball Night will host the Niftee Fiftees car show in the Academy parking lot. New this year, A.n.D. Wrestling will be in the HEB parking lot. Tomball Night’s mystery shoppers will be another continuing tradition. Guests that identify the mystery shoppers will receive cash prizes. To identify the mystery shopper, those planning to attend can read clues in the Tomball Night Poem. Finally, the night will wind down with the annual Tomball Night Parade of Lights which begins at 9:15 p.m. The parade will run east on Main Street from Buvinghausen Road to the railroad tracks and turn left on Peach Street. Due to the drought conditions, there will not be a fireworks display this year. Hillegeist said that Tomball Night has had a very successful track record, being the most successful event hosted by the GTACC. He said last year the town was filled with more than 20,000 guests between 5 and 10 p.m. looking to shop, eat and enjoy the festival atmosphere. “It truly is a fun family event,” he said.
