Constable Hill hopes to continue service to Pct. 5

david hill Montgomery County Pct. 5 Constable David Hill is seeking re-election.

He says he hopes to continue serving as Pct. 5 Constable because of his love for the community.

Hill has been involved with law enforcement for 44 years. He has served as Pct. 5 Constable for 29 years. His tenure is the longest of any currently elected official in Montgomery County.

Hill began his journey in law enforcement in 1967 where he worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He then entered the Texas Department of Public Safety academy and graduated in 1969. As a trooper, Hill was stationed in Magnolia, where he says he fell in love with the community.

In 1982 he was elected as Pct. 5 Constable where he has remained ever since.

“I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” he said.

Hill said he hopes to continue to serve Pct. 5 until he reaches his 50-year mark with law enforcement. He also said he wants to continue making Pct. 5 the best constable’s Office in Texas.

However, he said he is not just running for himself, he says he is running for his department and those that love the community as much as he does.

“It’s a matter of involvement in the community,” he said. “We (Hill and Pct. 5 Constables) love it. I can’t express how much I love this community.”

Hill says his department has a great working relationship with the school district, district attorney’s office, Commissioner Craig Doyal, other Constable’s offices and the sheriff’s office. He says the department has worked hard to have close relationships with other departments and entities in the county.

Potentially going into what would be his 45th year in law enforcement; Hill says he hopes to have continued growth for his department.

“I am continually learning and reaching out,” he said.

He says he recognizes that the community is growing and he plans to keep up with it.

“It is growing so fast. (The Constable’s Office) will identify areas of need and meet those needs,” he said.

He added that his department has to stay current and updated.

A major area that the Pct. 5 Constable’s Office has been targeting is warrants. The department recently initiated a warrant round-up with the assistance of several other departments and the district attorney’s office.

Hill said the Constable’s Office is working to formulate a plan which will eliminate more warrants and bring criminals to justice.

The department also updated its computers and software for better county communication, according to Hill.

While he plans to continue to learn and grow with the community, Hill’s campaign statement is “Why fix what isn’t broken?”

Hill has not been opposed in 16 years. In March he will run against Johnny Carroll and Brian Clack.
