| Tomball council sets municipal election date |
|
A date has now been set for the next Tomball City Council election, with two council members already planning to run for re-election.
The council set Saturday, May 12 as election day, during a short council session Jan. 3. Position 2 and Position 4 will be up for three-year terms.
Position 2 is currently held by Mayor Pro-Tem Mark Stoll, who is just finishing his first three-year term, while Position 4 is held by Derek Townsend. Both said they plan to file for re-election.
Tomball Assistant City Manager Christal Kliewer Weber said the filing dates for anyone interested in running will start Feb. 4. The filing period will end March 5 at 5 p.m.
Early voting for the election will be held from April 30 to May 4 and again May 7 and 8. Early voting locations have not been set yet.
“Usually we have (early voting) at either city hall or the public works building, but we haven’t set that yet,” Weber said.
Both Stoll and Townsend say that they are excited by what was accomplished in their first term and look forward to running again.
“I thought it went very well,” Stoll said. “We have accomplished a lot of things.”
Townsend agreed.
“It (his first term) was interesting, but we did some very good things,” he said.
Ballot applications are available at Tomball City Hall, located at 401 Market St., during regular business hours. Council members must reside within the city limits of Tomball to serve.
