| Magnolia student arrested for sexually assaulting child |
|
Deputies with the Grimes County Sheriffs Office (GCSO) recently arrested a student at Magnolia High School for aggravated sexual assault of a child. Charles Lee Malofski, 18, was arrested April 15 for the alleged assault while attending school. Lieutenant Blake Jarvis, Special Investigator with the GCSO, confirmed that Malofski had been arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child but could not elaborate further. Jarvis said that he could not release the age, sex, exact location of the incident or the victim’s relation to Malofski because the information “might serve to identify the victim.” However, local media reports state that the victim is a 7-year-old female. As of press time last week, Malofski had been released from the Grimes County Jail on a $25,000 bond. MISD Superintendent Michael Holland confirmed that the assault didn’t occur on MISD property. He also said the district is taking “appropriate actions” as deemed necessary by state law. Jarvis said the Sheriff’s Office learned of the incident from the victim’s father, who came forward as soon as he found out about the assault. Child Protective Services is involved in the case and the alleged victim is receiving counseling.
