| Two wrecks in two days, each claim a life |
|
Lynn Six, 77, died May 12 from injuries he sustained in an accident on May 11 that involved six vehicles. The wreck occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on SH 249 at Boudreaux Road. At left, an accident on SH 249 at Boudreaux Road on May 11 left one person dead and the driver of this Chevrolet truck facing intoxicated manslaughter charges.
According to, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a Chevrolet truck driven by Stacey Collins collided with a minivan, which caused a chain reaction of collisions involving four other vehicles.
Six was a passenger in the minivan and was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he died the following day. Collins was taken to Ben Taub Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Collins blood alcohol level was 0.12, above the legal limit of .08. Collins, 43, was initially charged with Intoxicated Assault, but a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said last week that the charges would be upgraded to Intoxicated Manslaughter.
No other serious injuries were reported in the accident.
Nearly 24 hours later, a similar and equally tragic scene unfolded on FM 1774 when 63-year-old Joseph Vitak was killed in a head on collision near High Meadow Ranch.
The accident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. when Vitak, who was traveling south on FM 1774 crossed over into the northbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by James Wiloth, 65, of Tomball.
Vitak was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Matt Masden. Wilmont was taken by Life Flight to a local hospital where he was said by his daughter to be in "very critical" condition.

Both cases are tragic & my heart goes out to the families of both victims. I'd really like to know where the drunk driver had been drinking "before" he decided to get behind the wheel. Where were all those DWI task force officers I've seen/heard so much about & didn't someone notice this drunk driver driving erraticly BEFORE the accident??
