| Nguyen, Brubaker earn top ranks as THS graduates 530 seniors |

Tomball High School held its 2009 graduation June 6 at Reed Arena in College Station, marking the end of a 13-year journey for more than 530 students. This year’s top two students were Huy Nguyen and David Brubaker, who were ranked first and second respectively. At left, Huy Nguyen (left) and David Brubaker (right). Nguyen will be attending Rice University where he will major in chemical engineering while also studying pre-med. Nguyen received a CollegeNET, Inc. scholarship to help pay for his education expenses.
Nguyen plans on pursuing a doctorate degree and enjoys computer science. During his career at Tomball High School, he was involved in band, UIL Academics, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and Science Olympiad.
Brubaker will attend the University of Texas at Austin where he plans to major in electrical engineering. Among the scholarships he received include the Houston Endowment, University of Texas School of Engineering, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Metropolitan Scholarship, and a state top 10 percent scholarship.
Brubaker’s goals for the future include completing a college degree and pursuing his career. His extracurricular activities included marching, jazz, and concert bands, Computer Science Club - president, Mu Alpha Theta – vice president, National Honor Society and a member of the Science National Honor Society.
