Realty group announces plans for major renovation of Four Corners

4 corners Tomball is on the verge of getting a major aesthetic upgrade with the recent announcement that the decades-old Four Corners Shopping Center will undergo a renovation.

ERA Whitaker Realty announced plans last week for a $2 million project that will upgrade the building’s outer façade, as well as enhance the landscaping in the parking area.

At left, ERA Whitaker Realty announced plans last week for a $2 million renovation to the Four Corners Shopping Center in Tomball.

“Obviously it’s been a long time coming,” Rob Whitaker of ERA Whitaker Realty said. “Mainly we’re pleased because it’s one of the most visible spots in Tomball. We’re happy that it’s going to be renovated to the scope that it should have been for a long time.”

Current tenants include Cinema 6, Goodwill, Golden Nonsense, Davis Chiropractic, and Bubba’s Beds, as well as several other businesses.

Whitaker said each of the current tenants will remain, and are “ecstatic” about the planned renovation.

“They love it,” he said. “And everyone is staying.”

The shopping center’s appearance has deteriorated over the past few years, especially since Kroger vacated the center and moved across the street to the Tomball Marketplace development.

The 45,000 square foot building still remains vacant and Whitaker is expecting the spot to be filled soon after the completion of the renovation.

“We’re looking for a big anchor tenant to the smallest business person,” he said.

Part of the project calls for the demolition of a small strip of vacant stores on the far east side of the shopping center to allow for access from the SH 249 bypass.

Whitaker said construction on the project will begin within the next 30 to 45 days and should be complete by “late fall or early winter.”

The renovation announcement comes on the heels of recent planning meetings by the City of Tomball. During those meetings, it was proposed by planners contracted by the city to renovate the Four Corners Shopping Center.

Their proposal suggested the site be renovated to include a multi-story office facility.

Whitaker said his company has been working closely with the city for this project and that the “comprehensive development enhanced our progress.”
