Annual shopping extravaganza, town festival returns to Tomball

tomball night For the 37th consecutive year, the streets of Tomball will come alive for the city’s showcase event, Tomball Night.

This year’s celebration is set for August 7 and will feature once-a-year specials and sales at stores throughout Tomball, along with a festival-like atmosphere with great food, live music, fun attractions, a parade and fireworks show.

Once again Downtown Tomball will serve as the epicenter of activities, with shops up and down Main, Commerce and Market Streets offering unique items and specials. Some of the featured activities in and around Main Street will include several live music acts, bounce houses for children near the Tomball ISD Administration Building, a petting zoo near Granny’s Korner and pony rides at the Historic Depot.

Shoppers will certainly want to venture outside of the downtown area, as well. One of the more recent traditions that has become a popular stop is the Niftee Fiftees car show that is held each year in the parking lot of Lowe’s on FM 2920. The Montgomery County Search and Rescue team will also be selling barbecue and holding a raffle at the location.

Stores south of downtown will also be hotspots for activities, including the Hobby Lobby Center, which will feature a moonwalk, raffles and food. Kuk Sool Won martial arts will provide ongoing exhibitions at the Tomball Wal-Mart.

Another Tomball Night tradition will continue this year with the Mystery Shoppers. Those who identify a Mystery Shopper by the clues provided in this year’s Tomball Night Poem will be given $100 cash on the spot.

As the evening winds down, be sure to make your way back to Main Street for this year’s parade of lights, which is set to begin at 9:15 p.m. Immediately following the parade will be a fireworks show to close out the night.

Tomball Night has been one of the most successful annual events put on by the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce each year, bringing thousands of Tomball area residents, as well as shoppers from across the Houston area, into town for unique hometown festival.

Tomball night has been a great event over the years. It is good that a community can continue such an event for so many years.
