Members of local community gather to remember slain child

vigil1 Members of the community hold candles during a vigil at The Church at Creek’s End in Spring Aug. 13 in honor of Emma Thompson, a 4-year-old Spring girl who died June 27 after allegedly being physically and sexually abused. Emma’s mother, Abigail Young, and her boyfriend, Lucas Ruric Coe, a Magnolia resident, were both arrested for injury to a child in connection with Emma’s death. “In all of this media frenzy, we have to remember that she was just an innocent child,” Emma’s aunt, Amanda Young Matthews said at the ceremony.
