Checking Magnolia's E-mails - Oct. 5, 2009

The following are copies of e-mails obtained by the Tribune from an open records request submitted to the City of Magnolia. The e-mails include messages sent and received by City Administrator Ryan Kelley, Mayor Jimmy Thornton, City Secretary Debra Brent and City Councilwoman Patsy Williams. Each week the Tribune will publish e-mails received in the request. City e-mails and records are available to the public through the Texas Public Information Act. SUBJECT: Contract

Leonard,

Jonny W. (Williams) wants Daniels Landscaping to mow areas for the park and downtown project. I suggested that if 4A is going to pay for this there should be some kind of contract. He asked that I ask you to draw up something generic we can use for this and other things that come up.

Thanks,

Ryan,

The Magnolia/Tomball Tribune made an open records request for the minutes of every meeting of the Council during your employment here. 732 pages. Thought you would want to know.

SUBJECT: PIR Request

Mayor and Ms. Williams, I am still holding the PIR for the Tribune on your emails. I have Ryan’s and the ones off the Mayor’s computer here, but in Ryan’s e-mails it shows emails to Patsy and you Mayor on your apex account. Please provide me with any emails that address city business or city employees. If the amount of the request is more than $40.00 I have to create an invoice and send to the requestor, which gives them the opportunity to decide if they want the information enough to pay for it. So far the amount is up to $207.00 and this does not count the hour I will charge for Ryan, or any emails I receive from your computers.

Please furnish me with this information as soon as possible as the deadline is Thursday and I have to submit an invoice to the requestor by tomorrow or run the risk of non compliance, at which time I would guess they will contact the Attorney General’s office to add on more straw to the stack, but that is a stack we do not want to fall into, so please furnish with me the information.

Thank you.
