| Magnolia’s Christmas Parade to kick off holiday festivities |
|
Magnolia’s annual Christmas Parade is set for Dec. 12 and will kick off a weekend of holiday festivities in the city.
The parade, titled “Christmas Magnolia Style Parade,” will feature floats from city hall members, Magnolia schools and surrounding businesses and organizations.
The parade route will begin at Magnolia Junior High on Nichols Sawmill Road at 10 a.m. and wind around Buddy Riley Boulevard and Commerce Street before ending where it began at the junior high. Holiday activities in Magnolia will begin on Thursday, Dec. 10 when the Downtown Depot opens an ice skating rink to the public. The following day, Dec. 11, a Lighting of the Depot is scheduled in the evening. Chamber President Alisha Roberts said so far there have been about 15 entries for floats in the parade. Roberts said City of Magnolia 4A Economic Development Corp. President Jonny Williams was chosen as Grand Marshal for the parade as “a tribute for all that he’s done for Unity Park.” After the parade, there will be many activities going on in the city, including train rides, ice skating, a Cookie Express featuring homemade cookies and candy, a chili cook off, photos with Santa, choir performances and several other activities for children. Roberts said the Chamber is hoping for more participation and good weather for this year’s parade. “There’s a lot of new ideas and activities they’re building on from last year,” Roberts said of the holiday festivities, adding “the Polar Express (train ride) is supposed to be all the rage.” For more information on holiday festivities or to sign up for the parade, visit www.magnoliatexas.org Comments (2)

The Chamber President Alisha Roberts is new to Magnolia and there is no way that she could possibly know what all the Grand Marshal and his City Councle Wife have done to destroy Magnolia. Sewell Smith has done so much for Magnolia though his 90 years of service that it would have been great to have seen him recognized, someone we could respect. Other's are Charlie Riley, David Hill, Glen Addison, and I could go on and on ..
