| Hotels, restaurants leading commercial growth in Tomball |
|
With the opening of the Tomball Bypass in 2007, one of the city’s main commercial epicenters appears to be slowly shifting to the west. In what now may be considered the New Four Corners, the Tomball Marketplace center is continuing to attract highly sought-after businesses. This week Buffalo Wild Wings opened a restaurant at 14215 FM 2920 Ste. 104, in the same center as the recently-opened Sears Appliances store. On the southeastern portion of the center, and joining Allied Siding and Windows, will soon be Ross Dress for Less, whose planners have recently signed a contract to open a store in the next 18 months. Some time next year, and what is sure to be a big hit among Tomball area residents, a Cracker Barrel restaurant will be opening northeast of Academy on two pad sites, according to a recent Business Development Update issued by the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber also reported that Marshall’s and Best Buy are currently negotiating leases to build stores at Tomball Marketplace, but nothing is official. The city is also seeing a rapid influx of hotels and motels being erected around town. A Scottish Inn and Suites is set to be built at the corner of FM 2920 and Park Road, while America’s Best Value Inn has purchased property for a hotel just east of Dixie USA on FM 2920, the Chamber reported. A Hampton Inn and Suites is currently being constructed on Medical Complex Drive, while at the corner of that street and SH 249, a four-story Holiday Inn Express with 80 rooms is being proposed. Medical and health care facilities are continuing to pop up around Tomball Regional Medical Center. According to the Chamber, a two-story medical office building is under construction at the corner of School Street and Graham Drive. At 647 James, a 22,000-square foot medical office building has recently been completed and has one tenant. An independent heart center not associated with Tomball Regional Medical Center is being constructed at the intersection of Alma and Holderrieth.
