| Alleged thief stops for coffee, haircut after robbing Magnolia bank |
|
John Vincent Travers, 48, was apprehended by a Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper about an hour after law enforcement received information that the bank had been robbed. District 2 patrol units were dispatched at approximately 9:20 a.m. to the Amegy Bank, located in the 32000 block of FM 2978 and FM 1488.
After arriving, they learned that the bank had been robbed by a male suspect armed with a pistol, described as wearing an overcoat with a hat and earmuffs. The suspect reportedly fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money before law enforcement arrived. A short time later, a DPS trooper saw a man who matched the description walking in the vicinity of the bank and apprehended him. He was identified and cooperated with investigators who recovered money, weapons and clothing.
Officials believe that after the robbery Travers walked to a nearby coffee shop and then to a barbershop where he had his hair cut and mustache shaved.
