Missing man on parole for murder located by authorities

A Magnolia man on parole for murder and suffering from bipolar disorder, manic depression and schizophrenia was located Tuesday, Dec. 22 by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office authorities after going missing for more than a week.

Details regarding where he was found were not released as of press time.

David McIntyre, 41, of Magnolia, was last seen by his mother around 11:45 p.m. at his home on Hardin Store Road in Magnolia on Dec. 11.

Authorities said he was without his medication while missing. Empty prescription medicine bottles were found in his home after he disappeared.

His mother, who believes he had been off his medication for 2-3 weeks prior to disappearing, reported him missing after overhearing him on the phone saying “I have to get out of here tomorrow, I’m going to see my parole officer and they are either going to put me in jail or find some place for me.

According to media reports, he had been living at the Magnolia home since 2007 following his release from prison. He was convicted in 1990 for the 1986 shooting death of 15-year-old Tommy D. Sides.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison in September 1990. In January 2000, McIntyre was released on mandatory supervision — an arrangement similar to parole. He returned to prison in October for an unknown violation of the release terms that didn't result in additional criminal charges filed against him, the reports said.

He remained in prison until November 2007, when he was again released on mandatory supervision.

Officials stated he had gone missing before and was located under the San Jacinto Bridge at Interstate 45.
