SUBJECT: Traffic Problems and Common Courtesy

Ryan – I am writing you to follow up on our conversation last night regarding the “cut-through” traffic in our shopping center. I think you know the details. I have called the Magnolia Police Chief several times in the past few weeks to try and set up a meeting to discuss possible solutions to this problem and he has yet to call me back. The first time I called, Sgt Eric Silliman sent a patrol car out and several citations were issued. This was appreciated, but does not solve the problem. We have had several of our elderly clients (and younger ones also) almost get run down by vehicles speeding to cut through from FM 1488 to FM 1774 and vice-versa.

I am extremely disappointed the new Chief has time to form a citizen’s task force regarding traffic and safety, has time for a “speaking tour” to discuss his personal philosophy of law enforcement, but yet cannot take a few minutes to return a phone call from a concerned business person regarding an issue of public safety. It certainly appears to some the new Chief is more concerned about his own publicity than he is about the safety of citizens.

Ryan you know I am not one to shoot off an e-mail about just anything. This city is not large enough for a public servant to be so insulated from citizens and the business community. You well know if someone from the City called me and asked for help with something, I would immediately do what I could to help. I expect nothing less from your employees – just a little common courtesy.

Best Regards,

Barry Tate

SUBJECT: Business Cards

I will place and order for business cards this week. Please let me know if you need cards. Also it has been metinoned (sic) that the Council might like shirts similar to what we wear as a uniform to wear to the City Council meetings. Please let me know your thoughts; and if you would like to get a shirt let me know your size and we will get them and have them monogramed (sic).

Thank you.

I think the shirts are a good idea. If we get them I would need an XL. I would like some cards if you don’t have to order too large of a quantity and you can put my Cell on them (redacted).

Todd.

SUBJECT: Re: Business Cards

I would like for the counsel (sic) to order a Blazer for meetings. I believe that would be nicer for the meetings. I would like to have more than one to chose (sic) from though. Is there a book that we can look at?

Please order cards for me.

Thank you.

Patsy

As for me I don’t need any. Use the money you save to buy something the city needs
