| Tomball soldier shares photos from Iraq, remembers home |
|
“I miss my friends and family,” he wrote. “It’s hard for me not to be able to hear my children’s voices, I miss them so, so much. I miss fishing at the little park behind Wal-Mart. I miss the bluebonnets and I miss Tomball Night where all the people came out and just shared each others’ company.” Rodriguez has been in the U.S. Army for 11 years and is a single father of four children who live with him when he is not deployed. Two of his children are grown and help out with the younger children when he is gone.
“In Iraq we are a team of parents, grandparents, newlyweds, sons and daughters,” he said. “All of us miss home, but use our wits to bring out the laughter in each other.” He also reflected fondly on his time working at Klein’s Super Market, which he called one of the “best jobs” he ever had. “I am former employee of Klein’s Super Market where Robert Klein proved to me that customer service and the care for its hometown people still comes first,” Rodriguez wrote. “He is a good man.” He said his current civilian job is a drill instructor for a Harris County detention facility and that he is set to return home in October.
