Loggins announced as featured performer at 7th Annual ECHO Gala

loggins The ECHO Foundation, the fundraising branch of Tomball Regional Medical Center (TRMC), announced plans last week for its Seventh Annual Gala to be held on April 10, 2010.

This year’s featured performer will be Grammy Award-winning artist Kenny Loggins. The “Footloose and Fancy Free Gala,” will be held at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott, with all proceeds from this year’s gala designated towards enriching patient safety.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and includes an array of live auction items consisting of jewelry from Thomas Markle Fine Jewelers, an entertainment system, a weeklong stay at the villa Casa Patricia in Puerto Vallarta in the hills of the beach of Mismaloya, donated by Roy & Patricia Moffitt, an autographed Colt McCoy jersey and helmet, an autographed guitar by Loggins, front row floor seats to the sold out Michael Buble show, as well as a few more surprises, ECHO Foundation Executive Director Marilyn Kinyo said last week.

The evening’s silent auction will include more than 150 items and will be followed by a multi-course dinner and a performance by Loggins.

“We are delighted to have Kenny Loggins perform at the gala,” Kinyo said.

In the 1980s, Loggins became famous after the success of hit movie theme songs such as “I’m Alright” (from Caddyshack), “Footloose” (from Footloose), “Danger Zone” (from Top Gun) and “Nobody’s Fool” (from Caddyshack II).

Loggins also continued to record albums that were introspective and deeply personal, including 1985’s Vox Humana, 1988’s Back to Avalon, 1991’s Leap of Faith, he Unimaginable Life (1997) and 2003’s It’s About Time.

During this same period, Loggins continued to take on new challenges like recording a Christmas album (1998’s December) and two successful and acclaimed CDs for children: 1994’s Return to Pooh Corner and its worthy follow-up, More Songs from Pooh Corner.

“We hope all attendees enjoy the performance by one of pop music’s greatest hit makers with over 25 million albums sold world-wide, fabulous dinner and exciting auctions, while helping The ECHO Foundation improve the types of services Tomball Regional Medical Center can offer to the community,” Kinyo stated in a press release last week.

“We are very grateful to our numerous sponsors, such as Laredo Energy, Santa Fe Flats NewMex Grille, Thomas Markle and many more. Without sponsors like these, events like ours would not be possible.”

Kinyo explained that funds raised from the gala will help the hospital enrich patient safety.

“According to the Institute of Medicine, 98,000 Americans die needlessly every year due to medical errors. Funds will be used for upgrades and improvements to the bar-coding system that allows at-the-bedside, electronic double-checks for proper patient identification prior to care. This is a critically important step demonstrating that patient safety is the top priority at Tomball Regional Medical Center,” Kinyo added.

The ECHO Foundation was created in 1996 to advance the philanthropic and charitable contributions for improving healthcare services and programs at Tomball Regional Medical Center. Funds raised by the Foundation are used to further the hospital’s mission as a non-profit organization. The ECHO Foundation and Tomball Regional Medical Center are dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of Northwest Houston.

TRMC is a self-supporting, non-profit regional medical center serving Northwest Houston, Tomball, Waller, Cypress, Magnolia, Spring and Montgomery areas. The Medical Center offers heart surgery, diagnostic testing, magnetic resonance imaging, intensive cardiac care; family centered birthing suites, emergency room services, outpatient surgery, sports medicine and more.
