Montgomery county judges race headed for run-off

election day The March 2 Republican primary in Montgomery and Waller Counties saw heated races and incumbent wins.

In the Montgomery County 221st District Judge race, John Devine will face Lisa Benge Michalk in a runoff April 13. The two other candidates in that race, Scott Goleman and David O’Neil, came close to a runoff as well, with each gaining nearly a fourth of the votes.

Incumbent Ed Rinehart beat out three challengers in the Precinct 4 Commissioner race after receiving 59 percent of the vote.

Another incumbent also edged out a new challenger. In the County Judge race, Alan B. Sadler defeated Richard Hickey with a landslide 70 percent of the vote.

Of the two races in the Democratic primary in Waller County, Marian Jackson edged out Johnny Johnson and Karen Maresh for Justice of the Peace Precinct 3, while Erica Huges beat Roy Murphy III with 80 percent of the vote in the County court at-law race.

In the Republican primary, Gary Chaney and Jeff Steinhauser will be in a runoff for the 155th District Judge position for Waller County.

Glenn Beckendorff defeated two opponents for the Waller County Judge seat, while Frank Pokluda and Stanley Kitzman won the Precinct 2 and Precinct 4 Commissioner positions, respectfully.
