prayer day Tomball Mayor Gretchen Fagan (left) presents a proclamation to Tomball United Methodist Church National Day of Prayer Chairperson Sharon Uhle (right) announcing May 6 as the National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer was enacted by the Continental Congress in 1775 and in 1988 Congress and President Ronald Reagan signed an act declaring that the National Day of Prayer would fall on the first Thursday of May each year.
