AAR Pet of the Week

cracker Cracker is a 2-year-old female yellow Labrador mix.

Cracker quickly learned to be afraid of celebrations with fireworks. On July 4, she wandered into someone’s yard, afraid and severely injured. She was taken to the vet and, as far as the foster mom and vet could tell, she was used as target practice. Cracker was burned on the inside
of her leg by a bottle rocket that lodged in her knee and burned a hole right down to her bone. The injury became infected and Cracker was put on pain killers and antibiotics for two weeks, but now she is ready to trust people again. She is still a little timid when she hears loud noises and thunder, but she just needs a family to reassure her that it’s alright and she will not be hurt again. Cracker is good with cats and would like to be the only dog unless the dog will be a good companion. She enjoys the water when she is outside, but does not like to be outside much with the heat. Cracker can be seen at Abandoned Animal Rescue, a no-kill shelter located at 419 East Hufsmith in Tomball.
