MISD hosts summer technology camp

misd treasure hunt

For the sixth consecutive year, the Magnolia ISD Technology Department hosted a free technology camp for students entering the fourth through sixth grades in the 2010-11 school year. This year’s camp, “A Modern Day Treasure Hunt,” focused on Geocaching. Camp participants used a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver to find containers called geocaches, or caches. These treasures were hidden by the camp staff on the grounds of Magnolia High School.  After finding the treasures, students blogged about the treasure finding experience. The camp coordinator Tomell Walton was pleased with the camp and with the students’ efforts. Pictured, Kory Burkhalter (left) and Cameron McConnelee (right) try to decipher a riddle that leads to their treasure.
