NAM seeking food donations, says pantry depleted

Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) is in urgent need of donated food for its Food Pantry. The Pantry’s shelves are depleted, as is the organization’s reserve of non-perishable food items. The shortage is due to extraordinary demand for food.

“Summer is generally a difficult time for many families,” says Rebecca Landes, NAM Vice President of Service Programs. “This summer is especially tough due to the economy.”

According to Landes, requests for food are up 30 percent over last year.

The Food Pantry provides groceries to individuals and families living in NAM’s core service area. Last year, the Pantry served 36,456 people. NAM relies on community donations to keep the Food Pantry well-stocked.

Food donations may be dropped off at NAM’s main office at 15555 Kuykendahl, at NAM Resale at 3645 FM 1960, or at Second Chance Community Store at 10505 Jones Road.
