Joey Cassata, a 10-year member of Boy Scout Troop 113 and an incoming sophomore at Magnolia High School, recently completed his Eagle Scout Project benefiting the City of Magnolia.

During his freshman year, Cassata noticed the downtown Magnolia renovation progress and read an article regarding the plans. He was especially interested in the Magnolia Stroll and contacted the Magnolia Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber offered a few ideas and recommended that he visit with the City of Magnolia. He met with Jonny Williams, President of the Magnolia 4A Economic Development Corporation and the two decided on an outdoor bulletin board for Unity Park.

After two months of planning, the project was sent to the Orion District Committee Members for approval to begin the project. All funding, planning and implementation was led by Cassata. The bulletin board was finally completed, installed and the keys were handed over to the City on July 14. The bulletin board now stands in the city park and it lists posted information about city events.
