| AAR Pet of the Week |
|
Jez is a 4-month-old male domestic short hair cat. He was found at the Luby’s Cafeteria on SH 249 at 5 weeks old. He was hanging out in the shrubs by the front door when a couple of animal lovers walked out and heard him meowing. They went to pick him up and he darted away, so the chase was on. Jez was feral, meaning wild with no human contact, so one can imagine what kind of damage he did to their hands. Abandoned Animal Rescue did not give up on Jez and took him in. Initially, Jez bounced off the walls, hissing, spitting and trying to bite everyone. He stayed by himself for three weeks without human contact while volunteers worked around him. One day Jez knew the workers were not going to hurt him and they were able to pick him up without. Jez now is a sweet young lad who loves attention. He is still a little mouthy when his belly is rubbed, but he does not bite hard or scratch. Jez loves playing with toys, especially batting feathers.
