| Eagle Scout’s project benefits SOS, Unity Park |
|
His project consisted of building and donating three park benches to the City of Magnolia for use at Unity Park. Each of the three benches were built to encircle a tree at the park. Culberson said he chose the park bench project because he felt park patrons would enjoy a place to sit in the shade and that the benches fit in well with the park’s natural environment. In addition to his work with the Boy Scouts, Culberson has also been a longtime volunteer at Society of Samaritans (SOS) in Magnolia. Culberson has volunteered at the charity’s food bank and initiated a “Peanut Butter and Jelly Food Drive” to benefit SOS. Picture, Gavin Culberson of Magnolia presents money leftover from his Eagle Scout project to SOS Special Projects volunteer Gina Galloway while sitting one of the benches he constructed and installed (left) at Unity Park.
