Abandoned Animal Rescue Pet of the Week |
|
Bambi is a 1-1/2-year-old female Chihuahua who was found wandering a neighborhood and brought to Abandoned Animal Rescue. She is in a foster home waiting and wondering her fate. A veterinarian’s exam revealed that she has a heart murmur and further tests show she is suffering from Patent Ductus Arteriosus, a congenital heart defect that causes abnormal blood flow through the heart. If left untreated, about 60 percent of affected dogs die within a year of diagnosis. Bambi has been lucky, but at 1-1/2 years, her heart sounds like a washing machine and without treatment premature death will likely follow. If AAR and the community can raise the funds for Bambi’s surgery, then preliminary work up is set for Feb. 1 at Texas A&M Small Animal Clinic. If everything checks out, her surgery will follow the next day. Her surgery is estimated to be between $2,800 and $3,200. If anyone has a little spare change to donate, it all adds up and that would mean the life to Bambi. To donate online go to www.aartomball.org and use PayPal, under comments reference Bambi. Or send check by mail to Abandoned Animal Rescue 419 East Hufsmith Tomball, TX 77375 and reference Bambi on the check.
