Newfield Foundation makes $25,000 gift to NAM’s Meals on Wheels program

The Newfield Foundation recently made a $25,000 gift to Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) for its Meals on Wheels program. Meals on Wheels delivers hot meals to homebound individuals six days per week. Last year alone, the program provided 103,106 nutritious meals to an average of 500 homebound seniors and disabled adults each weekday and 80 individuals on Saturdays. Volunteer drivers bring the meals to the homes of those served.

Newfield’s gift comes at a time when Meals on Wheels’ funding has decreased. In fact, the program had to initiate a waiting list last year for the first time in its history.

“Meals on Wheels is a critically important service,” NAM President and CEO Carole Little said. “As our population ages, the need for this service will only increase. Newfield’s gift will help us continue to feed homebound seniors.”

Newfield Exploration Company is an independent crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company headquartered in Houston. Its domestic areas of operation include the Mid-Continent, the Rocky Mountains, onshore Texas, Appalachia and the Gulf of Mexico. Its international operations include Malaysia and China.
