Tomball installs six new traffic signs |
|
The City of Tomball installed six new traffic warning signs last week near Tomball schools to warn drivers of approaching school zones. According to Public Works Director David Kaufman, the city placed six signs on city roads, four near Tomball High School and Tomball Junior High and two near St. Anne Catholic School on Cherry Street. Kaufman estimated the cost of the six signs at $40,000. He said they were funded by money the city has earned through the Tomball Police Department’s red light traffic camera program. Money generated through red light tickets can only be used to fund traffic safety initiatives such as the school zone signs, Kaufman explained. The signs became operational last week.
